Air cooling 70,000 sq. ft. for maximised worker comfort and productivity

The Client

Lakhani Footwear is a renowned name in footwear manufacturing. The company partners with national and international brands as an OEM to manufacture footwear that is marketed across the globe. The company manufactures over 55 million pairs of shoes every year.

The Challenge

Lakhani Footwear was setting up a new facility to manufacture shoes for the globally -recognized German brand - Adidas. The new facility was being built to international standards and worker comfort was particularly important. The new 70,000 sq. ft. manufacturing plant was spread over two floors, housing approximately 200 workers on each floor. The challenge was to design a massive cooling system that covered the entire factory while consuming minimum energy.

  • The Solution

    Symphony was approached to provide a complete, end-to-end solution from design to execution, installation and commissioning. A simple and effective solution of placing 12 machines of SPS30 was deployed. 6 cooling units were installed on each floor of 34,000 sq. ft. To achieve maximised cooling efficiency of 90%, Symphony deployed a combination of spot and volume cooling. To minimize time and costs, Symphony factory-fabricated ducts were deployed.

    The Results

    Lakhani Footwear manufacturing facility now has a completely air cooled environment for its 400 workers. The use of sustainable air cooling technology helps the plant meet international manufacturing standards of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE). Also, worker productivity is at its best with optimum temperatures for increased worker comfort.
