My cooler emits a strange odor

A strange odor from an air cooler is the result of either stagnant water or growth of mildew on the pads. You can resolve this problem yourself by following the simple steps mentioned below.

Change the water regularly.

Keep the cooling pads clean to keep mildew off. This should help prevent odor.

To clean the cooling pad, unplug the cooler and apply low water pressure with the help of a pipe on the cooling pad from outside.

Clean the pad at least once or twice a year.

Preventive Maintenance

To keep your Air Cooler in top condition, please check the following:

Motor and pump oiling.

Cleaning of water tank against scaling.

Cleaning of water distribution pipe / channels for even distribution of water on all sides.

Checking for any loose connections in internal electrical components. Cleaning of the submersible pump impeller and other parts for proper water flow.

Cleaning of internal / external parts of the cooler body.

An evaporative air cooler works by introducing moisture into the air and lowering its temperature. The air cooler takes in dry air, moistens it with water vapour, and releases cooled air into the room. This form of cooling is cheaper and more energy-efficient than traditional refrigeration techniques.
A standard ceiling fan rotates to increase circulation of air within a room so that the perspiration on your skin can evaporate more quickly. However, the cooling effect is limited. Fans cannot operate in closed environments and in regions where air velocity exceeds 6.4 kilometres an hour. If ambient temperatures are above the body’s natural temperature (37℃), a rotating fan will heat up the body instead of cooling it.
Air coolers, on the other hand, have a tangible cooling effect on the ambient air. By introducing moisture into the air and circulating it effectively, a Symphony air cooler can lower the room temperature significantly. While a circulating fan only affects skin perceptible temperature, an air cooler can lower indoor temperature by nearly 5℃. Air coolers work on the principle of evaporative cooling, which is a more reliable and consistent technique than circulation. Air coolers are also a lot quieter than standard fans.
Air cooling is the most energy-efficient cooling technology available. Operating costs for an air cooler are about 1/10th of a traditional air conditioner. A 2.2-ton split air conditioning unit can consume 2200 watts an hour. A Symphony air cooler consumes nearly the same amount of energy as a standard ceiling fan.
Although the energy consumption of a ceiling fan and air cooler is similar, the cooling effect is considerably different. Air coolers can cover a larger area, actually cool the air, and work noiselessly.
Although air coolers work best in dry, arid conditions, they can still provide a cooling effect as long as the humidity is below the saturation point. In other words, air coolers are effective till the air humidity reaches beyond 50%.
Air coolers may be less effective in moderately humid areas, but they can still provide ventilation and air circulation. However, air coolers are not recommended in areas with high relative humidity.

Installing a Symphony air cooler is quick and simple.
  • Start by taking the cooling unit out of the carton and remove any protective layers.
  • Depending on the model, place the cooler in front of a window or on the trolley.
  • Carefully insert the water pipe into the float valve. Keep the model disconnected and switched off while you fill the tank with water.
  • Finally, plug the unit into an electric socket nearby and switch on.
  • Place the control knob in 'cool' position or select ‘cool’ in the touchscreen and touch panel but keep the airflow option off. Wait for a few minutes till the pads get soaked with water and then start the airflow.
  • Adjust horizontal louvers and controls as per requirement
  • Keep all windows and doors open for optimal cooling performance.

Yes. All Symphony air coolers work on inverters. Ensure that your inverter is appropriately rated for a sine wave. Sine wave is the standard type of electricity supplied by all utility companies. All air coolers and most inverters are designed to work on this standard.
